In July, Global Deaf Research Institute began early-stage research on the experiences of deaf refugees and connected with the World Institute on Disability while advancing partnerships with the World Federation of the Deafblind and the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People. The organization also planned its next national deaf needs assessment in the Dominican Republic for March and celebrated a $1,098 SF Marathon fundraiser led by community runner Zamica Gage.

First Diabetes Information Website in ASL Launches

The first diabetes information website built primarily in American Sign Language (ASL) has launched, addressing a critical gap in accessible health education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people who face elevated diabetes risk. The site features ASL videos, GIFs, visual explainers, and a sign language glossary of diabetes terms - making prevention and self-management information available in users' primary language for the first time.
